Phonemic awaremess

Phonemic awaremess is the understanding that spoken words are made up of sounds (phonemes).  It is the ability to pick out, segment, manipulate, and blend sounds in spoken words.  Impairments in phonemic awareness result in dificulty with reading/decoding.
